We have visited Helmsley numerous times before but this is our first holiday here...
Why haven’t we done this before! Hitting the jackpot with Fox Cottage has made our break perfect. So cosy and welcoming as well as clean, well-equipped and perfectly placed in the village. Our aim this week was to totally relax and we’ve manged to do that so easily.
A visit to Stokesley, (our first) was a delight, the journey there so scenic and lunch at Pistachio’s was perfect. Breakfast at Barker’s in Helmsley was very good. We haven’t walked as much as we planned to due to the wet weather – but will do that next time. Hidden gem – Thirsk Museum, (opposite the James Herriott Museum) is open April to the beginning of November.

This charming Fox Cottage lives up to everything you expect in a cozy cottage. We lit a fire every night, not because it was cold but because we wanted to....
In case it is helpful to others considering the property, we were also working part of the time we stayed and the wifi and space enabled both me and my husband to take calls and do the other things we needed very easily.
Fox Cottage is very well equipped, decorated and furnished to very high standards and is located just a stone’s throw away from shops, restaurants and pubs. we could not have picked a better place.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fox Cottage. Ben was a highly responsive host and it was very easy to check in. The cottage itself is charming and very well kept and we felt right at home straight away...

The cottage is very well situated for Helmsley with the Co-Op and lovely restaurants like the Trattoria just a few minutes walk away. You are right at the start of the beautiful walk to Rievaulx too and very close to the open air swimming pool. All in all, a lovely cottage and we look forward to returning.

We have had a lovely week staying at Fox Cottage. The cottage was very homely and comfortable and a wonderful location in Helmsley. ...
It was so nice to be able to walk to everything and have walks from the door. We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The White Horse in Ampleforth, the food at La Trattoria was also very good. We loved the moors, there are so many great walks and stunning views to enjoy.Visitor: Tara and Graham Goldsmith, (UK)

Since we got home from Fox Cottage, life has been a mad rush. How I long for the evenings sat in the courtyard listening to the chimes of the church. I wanted to drop you a line to thank you for such a wonderful holiday. ...
We both fell in love with the cottage, Helmsley and North Yorkshire. The marvelous weather helped, and we must be the only people who book a holiday in Yorkshire in May and come back with sun tans!
The cottage was a highlight of the holiday. In the past we have booked places based on their remoteness. We were both worried that being in a town without parking would be a problem. Nothing could be further from the truth. The parking was never an issue, even on market days we were able to park just over the road. The other joy was walking the dogs on the Cleveland Way, and then back to town to buy fresh bread. Your cleaners were lovely and arrived with fresh linen as agreed and were full of useful tips on places to go. They do you a great credit as the place was immaculate when we arrived. I thought it was a lovely touch to leave the radio playing – just made the whole place homelier.
