Fox Cottage is conveniently located in one of the prettiest and most visited rural towns in North Yorkshire, Helmsley
This Grade II listed cottage is situated a short stroll from the picturesque market square. Retaining much of its original eighteenth century character, it features beamed ceilings, an open fire and lots of period charm.
Accommodating up to four people, the cottage is wonderfully cosy but there are one or two low doorways. It is well equipped, attractively decorated and traditionally furnished.

Many of you will be aware that after 11 wonderful years, my mother, Philippa, recently decided that the time had come to put Fox Cottage on the market. Many asked me to notify you when the cottage sells and whether or not it is to continue as a holiday cottage.
I am delighted to inform you that the property has been purchased by Mrs Joanna Robinson and her intention is to continue running Fox Cottage as a holiday home in the future. Furthermore, I’m hoping to stay on to manage the lettings for her and remain your point of contact for holiday enquiries and bookings.
Mrs Robinson is closing the cottage from the start of the New Year to refurbish the property and make a number of improvements for your future comfort and enjoyment, but Fox Cottage will be opening its door to visitors again from early May 2025 onwards.

We have had a lovely week staying at Fox Cottage. The cottage was very homely and comfortable and a wonderful location in Helmsley. It was so nice to be able to walk to everything and have walks from the door. We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The White Horse in Ampleforth, the food at La Trattoria was also very good. We loved the moors, there are so many great walks and stunning views to enjoy.

Since we got home from Fox Cottage, life has been a mad rush. How I long for the evenings sat in the courtyard listening to the chimes of the church. I wanted to drop you a line to thank you for such a wonderful holiday. We both fell in love with the cottage, Helmsley and North Yorkshire. The marvelous weather helped, and we must be the only people who book a holiday in Yorkshire in May and come back with sun tans!
The cottage was a highlight of the holiday. In the past we have booked places based on their remoteness. We were both worried that being in a town without parking would be a problem. Nothing could be further from the truth. The parking was never an issue, even on market days we were able to park just over the road. The other joy was walking the dogs on the Cleveland Way, and then back to town to buy fresh bread. Your cleaners were lovely and arrived with fresh linen as agreed and were full of useful tips on places to go. They do you a great credit as the place was immaculate when we arrived. I thought it was a lovely touch to leave the radio playing – just made the whole place homelier.
