About Fox Cottage

Fox Cottage was purchased by Philippa and Richard Galloway in 2012 and lovingly restored by Philippa in 2013.

The property has been run as a weekly holiday cottage since 2013 and managed for the past ten years by Philippa’s son, Ben Galloway. Over that time, the cottage has acquired a very loyal following – some returning guests are now in their seventh and even eighth year.

Helmsley is a very popular holiday destination, and for couples or small families wishing to base themselves in the heart of this lovely market town, Fox Cottage is an ideal choice.

As the holiday approaches and the year draws to an end, my mother and I would like to say a huge “thank you” to all our visitors and wish you, and your families, a very Happy Christmas.

With the ‘cost of living crisis’, it’s been a tough year for many and we are mindful that taking a family holiday is a major decision and not one that everyone can afford. The Holiday Cottage sector has been through a difficult patch as a consequence with many owners reporting lower than average occupancy rates.

Thank you to all our our lovely visitors, some of whom have stayed multiple times and many of whom have booked again for next year. We’ve made some good friends and we appreciate your loyalty and the many kind and encouraging things you have said. We very much look forward to seeing you in 2024.
